Nearly a decade ago, my friend Candice Byrd got engaged to Freeman Wizer. Candice is an awesome singer and she modeled for me for several years, you will see images of her peppered throughout my site and social media. She is also a very successful Real Estate professional and Freeman is music industry executive. We shot these on a chilly afternoon tin the Edge Hill Neighborhood of Nashville. It was a fun shoot. I especially liked Freeman's impromptu dip captured in the second photograph! They are great people still living in Nashville and still going strong.
The Ryman Auditorium, 5th Ave., North, Nashville, TN. I took this photograph before it was in the shadow of the 5th and Broadway project, that takes up an entire city block in downtown (a pretty cool place in its own right). I think, the nearly 130 year old building is one of the most beautiful structures I have ever seen. Some would call it an architectural marvel. I know it to be one of the top 25 places in the world to see live music. This is a special place for all Nashvillians and music fans worldwide, it's referred to as "The Mother Church of Country Music because The Grand Ole Opry show originated there. My first concert seated in the iconic pews was Jonny Lang more than 20 years ago. It's still today one of the best shows I've seen. And living in Nashville and attending a multitude of music festivals and dozens upon dozens of live music venues here, that is saying something! So, go to the Ryman, and go back often.
New Heights District begins its overhaul.
Needless to say, it's been a challenging year for most businesses, especially those like mine where social distancing proves difficult. However I managed to make some fun images, while taking great care to stay safe. This is Autumn Ryan, Founder and CEO of Aseptic Health. Her products are needed now, more than ever. ©2015 Todd Stringer I recently photographed the annual awards dinner for Nashville's home based Cumberland Pharmaceuticals.
Its my 5th time covering this event for Cumberland and local and national media. Its a top notch company that I have had the great fortune of following since its inception over a decade ago when I photographed them for Nashville Business Journal. Their CEO and founder A.J. Kazimi is a great guy and a super smart business man who has watched his company grow tremendously over the years. Below are some images from their 2014 awards dinner from The Bridge building in East Nashville along the Cumberland River. When you hear people talk about Alternative Portraits…it can mean many things. Everyone has their own idea of what one is. Here is my take on it. I make it simple. Non-traditional processing, posing and wardrobe.
This is a portrait of one of my best friends in the world. Her name is Amy Stiner. She and I were in art school together, in Pittsburgh. She was a photographer, organic farmer, barista, traveler and all around wonderful person. This is an image I made of her at the Natchez Trace Bridge in Nashville in 2005. It was her third visit to Nashville to visit me. It turned out to be the last time I would photograph her and the last time I would ever see Amy again. She and her unborn child and a friend lost their lives in June of 2013 in a freak car accident off the coast of Maine. I think about her often. I think about what a great friend she was to me and what a tremendously talented person she was…but most of all I think about and remember all the people she touched in her life and travels and especially what a great mother she would have been. I miss you Amy!
Erica has become one of my favorite people. She is a very talented and genuine person. I have had the privilege of photographing her a few times over the last year and a half. The image above is an example of our work together. enjoy, let me know what you think... |
